Underworld Fright Interview

Today, we interview Brooke. She’s the owner of the Underworld Fright in Williamstown, KY. Learn about Northern Kentucky’s newest haunt.

Tell us a little about Underworld Fright.

Underworld Fright is a maze of all the things that people are typically afraid of. From start to finish we have tried to pack the space with all things terrifying.

What is the most popular scene and why?

Our most popular or talked about scene would probably have to be our “Butcher Barber”. This is likely due to the 16 year veteran actor bringing it to life.

If there was one thing you could change about the haunt, what would that be?

If there was one thing I would change, I would make it larger. We love our location and have plans to go bigger in the future.

When do you start building and how long does it take to complete?

We started building the haunt in our spare time 2 years ago. We can definitely see adding to it and growing it every year.

Where do you see Underworld Fright ten years from now?

Hopefully we’re a staple attraction that people from all over want to visit and can’t wait for the opening. Again, I do see yearly expansions as well. We want to offer more to see and do while you are visiting.

How did you get involved with Underworld Fright?

I’m involved because I am the owner of course. When we purchased the building 4 years ago,we knew the basement had a lot of potential for a haunted attraction. Together with my husband we would build the rooms and do the set design.

What do you look for in an actor?

When we cast actors this year it was mostly based on experience and availability. We knew we wanted people with experience to help guide the newcomers. Availability is a must. Haunts are open weekends so you need to be open during those times. The acting roles can be played by just about anyone and as long as they give the effort.

What’s your favorite thing about being involved in the haunt industry?

My favorite thing so far is to see how surprised our visitors have been with the haunt. They definitely didn’t think it would be as big as it currently is. I love Meeting so many talented veteran actors from around the tri-state that have come to visit and being impressed enough to want to join the cast. It is a great feeling to see people enjoy the work we have put into creating it. Now that we are involved with the haunt industry, my favorite thing about the industry as a whole is to meet the hugely talented and creative people behind the scenes and the haunt enthusiasts that travel for hours and hours to visit haunts.
