The Devil’s Attic (Louisville, KY)
“Fear Reincarnated”
By Noah Wullkotte: Visited on 10/3/26
Evil casts its shadow on a place simply known as The Devil’s Attic. This Louisville staple has been scaring fright seekers since 2010. Count Orlock frightens the crowd as they wait to enter. Horror movie scenes play on a projector screen. The 1979 supernatural classic Phantasm showcased some great gore effects as people watched in shock. After we got our group photo taken, it was our turn to enter The Devil’s Attic. This is a very detailed attraction that’s sure to make you stop and stare at the many scenes and scary monsters.
A murky swamp is illuminated by green fog. Immerse yourself in the madness and beware of what lurks in the darkness. The vampires can smell your fear and want to take a bite out of your tasty looking neck. A poor soul is locked up in a cage and cries out of help. A blood thirsty werewolf suddenly appears out of nowhere and he’s ready to make a meal out of you. You better get up against the wall to see Dr. Frankenstein’s newest creation. It’s alive, it’s alive!
The Devil’s Attic will have you coming face to face with myths, legends and horror movie icons. You’ll first meet the Devil himself. This incredible actor does a great job explaining the story line and what you can expect along the way. The Devil’s Attic does an excellent job with its horror movie recreations. I felt like I just stepped foot onto a horror movie set. The detail is off the charts and the lighting is some of the best around. The LED lights give off a nightmarish glow and help the various scenes become more realistic. No stone has been left unturned.
Meet your favorite horror movie villains. The Devil’s Attic utilizes horror movie scenes, but you’re definitely not going to see Halloween, Friday the 13th or A Nightmare on Elm Street. Some of the horror movie scenes are more obscure while there are some that are very well known classics. The actor playing the priest in the Exorcist Bedroom did an excellent job. Let the power of Christ compel you. The Hellraiser scene features plenty of cenobites which are demonic beings. Give Uncle Frank a little kiss.
The Devil’s Attic has a plethora of props and special effects. The burning of the witch was my favorite. CO2 Fog suddenly shoots up in the air as it’s surrounded by red lighting. It resembles flames burning a suspected witch. The Devil’s Attic features some gross out moments. The most notable is the Human Centipede scene which is the only haunt I’ve been to that recreates this shocking movie. Yes, that woman is eating feces and those poor victims are attached to each other. You would make a perfect part for the front. 1984’s Silent Night Deadly Night will make you have second thoughts about jolly ole Saint Nick. Billy is dressed as the lovable Kris Kringle. You better not be naughty or you might have an ax shoved into your back. The woman with deer antlers impaling her was a nice touch and a tribute to the classic slasher movie. Don’t stare at Medusa who’s also known as Gorgon in Greek Mythology.
These are just a few of the scenes you’ll encounter at The Devil’s Attic. Others include a plague that’s swept across a small town, a coffin salesman looking for a new customer, a confrontation with Bloody Mary and so much more. Say her name 3 times and you better keep safe. This is a very frightening and blood soaked scene with an actress that doesn’t let up for a second. The actors are phenomenal at The Devil’s Attic. The Sawyer Family has the finest chili made out of humans. You’ll meet Grandpa, Chop Top, Leatherface and more from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Leatherface was holding the biggest chainsaw we’ve seen all season and got up close and personal.
Total tour time is around 15 minutes. It could be longer or shorter depending on your interaction with the various characters. General admission is $27, Speedpass is $37 and RIP (front of the line) is $52. RIP tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth during regular hours. Group rates are available for 8 or more. Save $2 when you bring 2 canned Goods. Click here to sign up for $2 off coupon. Parking is free and ample. There’s a merchandise trailer when you exit the haunt. You can purchase yourself The Devil’s Attic T-Shirts, hoodies, beanies and more. A booth with pimped out jack-o-lanterns was next to the merchandise booth. The outside is pretty cool looking this season. You’ll notice that they’re using a holographic projector/fan to project scary images. It’s a simple effect, but very cool.
The Devil’s Attic is one of the best attractions in the Bluegrass State. The horror movie scenes are quite realistic, the actors are insane and its variety of scares will make you jump out of your skin. Head on down to Louisville, Kentucky this haunt season for The Devil’s Attic.
