Phantazmagoria-“Restless Souls Live Here”
We were shocked at how few people were at Hanna Haunted Acres that night. We showed up at almost 11:00 PM and were able to go through five of the haunts that were at the farm. It just shows you how the rise in the price of gas has effected some haunts this season. Either way we were looking forward to go through one of our favorite haunts at Hanna Haunted Acres, Phantazmagoria. The weather was perfect and we were ready to get scared.

Length-7: It will take about 10 minutes to walk through Phantazmagoria. There’s always something frightening happening, but some additional actors would help scenes where little is happening.

Design-7: Phantazmagoria is a mixed bag of different themes that have not relevance to each other. You’ll venture into a creature infested graveyard or even find yourself in the middle of a Insane Asylum. It would be nice to scenes have a connection to each other or follo

Props/Animatronics-8: Phantazmagoria is full of high end animatronics. These include a pile of moving skeletons, a living gargoyle, an out of control car and much more. A few of the props you’ll see are from Scare Factory and Distortions Unlimited. But the majority of people may not notice this unless they visit conventions or are fans of the companies that produce these monstrosities.

Acting-7: Phantazmagoria has many actors that are hidden within drop down windows or doors. But their costumes leave a lot to be desired. If the characters you came in contact with wore elaborate costumes it would make the actors more realistic in the roles they’re playing. But as it is, rubber masks and cheap makeup isn’t cutting it.

Scare Effect-8: This can be a scary haunt due to how well some of the actors are hidden. But unfortunately the large amounts of animatronics don’t make up for what’s lacking in scenes. More unusual scenes would help Phantazmagoria be more intense and unique.

Fright Value: $10 is a bit high for a haunt that only lasts around 10 minutes. You’re essentially paying $1 a minute to walk through Phantazmagoria and this haunt just isn’t worth it.

Final Stab-7.4: Phantazmagoria returns for another year of scaring patrons at Hanna Haunted Acres. It’s full of impressive animatronics and some of the scenes can be quite entertaining, but overall there’s something missing from this haunt. The actors need to be more intense, the scenes need to be more creative and this haunt could gain to be 5 or 10 minutes longer.
