By Noah Wullkotte: jollypumpkin@aol.com
Nightmare on Edgewood has been scaring the great state of Indiana since 1978. Can you imagine how many people have screamed, laughed and cried in 48 seasons? Nightmare on Edgewood has become a Halloween tradition for many scare seekers and 2025 marks their final year of fear. We’ll miss this incredible haunt that’s interactive and innovative. This is a special attraction that we look forward to visiting every year. It’s very intense and you never know what’s going to happen next.
A zombie head tells the rules of the haunt before more zombie heads attack. Enter the catacombs before getting in line. A movie theater facade opens up to reveal an angel of death. He grabs a hold of a man as the poor victim is being pulled by demon hands straight into hell. It’s truly a party atmosphere at Nightmare on Edgewood. The actors dance to entertain customers and there are plenty of frightening props that decorate the place. It’s great for those waiting in line for a long time.
Nightmare on Edgewood is very interactive. The characters will push, pull and get right in your face. Your personal space is going to be invaded. You might even become part of a scene for customers to watch in horror. My head was shoved into a toilet filled with gonorrhea. I was almost given a swirly. It’s a disgusting scene and very effective. The dentist will examine your pearly whites as you take a seat next to a bloody corpse named Rodney. Mother won’t let you leave until you clean the dirty kitchen floor with a wash rag. My head was shoved into the mouth of a killer wolf in the trophy room. He made a meal out of me. Crawl through a tunnel with toxic waste below.
The movie theater is playing a film called Unhinged and the director wants you to play the starring role. Sit down for a second before walking through the projector screen. This is a very detailed haunt with many memorable scenes. The new pumpkin room features corpses that have been carved up like Jack-o’-lanterns. They’re half man, half pumpkin. The storage room is home to a corpse in a wheelchair that suddenly springs to life. A possessed girl makes furniture move and you better get out or else. The cemetery is very elaborate to say the least. They’re always watching you at Nightmare on Edgewood. The surveillance room is full of TV screens. They’re waiting!

(Customers wait in line for the final season of Nightmare on Edgewood.)

Slabs of meat, pigs, body parts and more can be seen moving on a conveyor.
Quite a few props will attack. Enter the Hallway to Hell that’s full of the living dead. This animatronic filled scene will have your heart racing for sure. A giant wild boar named Boaris charges as it opens its mouth for a little bite to eat. Nightmare on Edgewood is very creative and innovative. Enter a cattle trailer with realistic motion. I felt like a cow being led to its slaughter. The trash compactor will squeeze the life out of you as you try to survive. It gets closer and closer. The floor might even collapse below you. The final scene at Nightmare on Edgewood is something else. If you’re claustrophobic then you might just crap your pants.
