Nightmare Manor (Middletown, OH)
“Manor Monsters and Classic Cinema”
By Noah Wullkotte: 10/23/26
An old Cambridge Inn has been boarded up. Green lights illuminate the exterior and an oversized coffin and horse drawn carriage can be seen near to the entrance. Street style lamps add more lighting. Halloween music plays in the background. A banner and sign reads Nightmare Manor. Were we brave enough to enter to find out what lies beyond this realm? Let’s find out in our 2026 review of Nightmare Manor where your nightmares become reality.
A friendly maid welcomed us to Nightmare Manor before we entered a sinister place filled with evil. You could say that Nightmare Manor is more of an old school haunt since you aren’t going to see many high tech props. The emphasis is on acting and its variety of scary scenes. Quite a few of the scenes feature horror movie icons. Some are well done while others need a little work. You’ll encounter Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees which we enjoyed, but it could have been executed better. Adding the music from Halloween and Friday the 13th would make it feel more authentic and realistic. It seemed like an after thought.
Other horror movie villains you’ll encounter include Leatherface. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre scene is pretty detailed and intense. You’ll meet Grandpa and the gang and an intense chainsaw chase ensues. The actor who portrayed Freddy Krueger was decent and wore a genuine looking mask. The Bastard Son of a Hundred Maniacs was in full force that night. Samara Morgan Climbs out of a TV in the Ring room. You have seven days before your death. The actress did a fine job at embodying the creepiness of the character. Our favorite horror movie reenactment was from the movie Saw. Watch Billy the Puppet as the spiked ceiling comes crashing down. We were a little confused as to why a clown was on the other side talking to us. But he was one of the better actors of the night. Ghostface from the movie scream was very good. We weren’t sure which one was real or not.
Nightmare Manor doesn’t just focus on horror movie scenes. There’s a plethora of rooms that are very ominous and eerie. Venture through a spooky graveyard, a scary school bus, a confrontation with a Wendigo style character, a haunted room with ghosts and more. The zombies were great and weren’t overdone. The chained werewolf was quite intense as the moon shined above. While the actor in the pirate room was decent, it seemed a little out of place among the other scenes. It was more humorous than scary.

Nightmare Manor might not have the biggest and baddest props around, but there are some neat special effects you’ll encounter. The vortex tunnel was one of the best we’ve seen all season and the laser swamp was mesmerizing and immersive. The swamp could have been a little more confusing to escape, but it was good none the less. The spider’s lair featured a very cool spider creature that surprisingly caught me off guard. The slide that leads to a foam pit was very unusual and fun.
We unfortunately ran into another group the night of our visit which had us missing a few of the scares. The characters we faced were good, but some of the young actors need to work on their craft. A few seemed to not be taking it too seriously. They came out of character a few times which was unfortunate. This fortunately wasn’t a common occurrence.
Total tour time is 15 minutes, but could be longer if you purchase the touch pass. General Admission is $20 and bring a non perishable food item for $2 off. We recommend spending an additional $5 for the touch pass which makes the experience much more intense. We didn’t get the touch pass this time around. A speed pass is an additional $10 and great for those who don’t want to wait in the regular line. Parking is $2 per vehicle and you pay for it at the ticket booth. Groups of 15 or more get in for only $15 per person. There are a variety of concessions available like hot dogs, chili dogs, popcorn, candy, soda and more. Don’t forget to take your picture inside the oversized coffin we mentioned earlier.
Nightmare Manor is great for those who are fans of classic horror movies. Adding more detail to those scenes would make the experience more memorable and realistic. It was longer last year because we opted for the touch pass. Some of the acting could also be improved. But, overall we enjoyed our time in the manor and we think you will too.
