Malice Manor (Clarksville, IN)
“A Different Breed of Horror”
By Noah Wullkotte: Visited on 10/3/26
A door mysteriously opens by itself and you suddenly hear a sound. What was that in the distance and did I just see a crazed monster? You’ll soon find out if you have the courage to enter Malice Manor. This year, the haunt is darker and more sinister. It’s a scarier Malice Manor and a different breed of horror. The actors were on their A game and they got up close and personal. A few actors will touch you, but they don’t go overboard. It’s just the right amount of physicality. Sparks will fly. I was blessed and had a marking placed on my forehead. I felt like I had just left the church on Ash Wednesday. The new outdoor maze will have you running like hell. The sound of a gas powered chainsaw will have you wondering if you’re next.
Malice Manor might be darker, but they still have spooky lighting that does a good job highlighting scenes. The garden is beautiful and so is the three skull fountain. The spirit scene has just the right amount of lighting and doesn’t give away which ghost is real. The hands coming out of the wall was a neat effect. The spider’s lair is infested with eight legged freaks and will strike fear into anyone who has a case of arachnophobia. I think we’re gonna need a bigger boat. Malice Manor has its own pet Shark who will gobble you up. The mermaid was a nice touch and only added to the scene.
There are plenty of eye catching props at Malice Manor. The flying witch nearly took me out. My personal favorite is the Volkswagen Beetle that crushes a man as he screams for help. The corpse that was eaten by a cannibal was gross to say the least. Those did look like some tasty intestines I must say. They’re hungry at Malice Manor. The cook inside of the kitchen wanted to make a meal out of me. There are a few hidden passageways. One second you think you’re trapped and then suddenly a book case opens. You must crawl through a fireplace as well.
There are plenty of unique masks and characters, but you’ll have to visit Malice Manor to meet this cast of crazies. Malice Manor does a great job mixing humor with horror. Butts are attached to the wall as you walk down a narrow hallway. Suddenly one broke wind and the air cannon nearly blew my beanie off. A bar is serving up some great drinks. I asked for a Bloody Mary, but instead got sprayed with water. The laundry room will have you choosing between a wet wash or dry cycle. Walk through a mess of bubbles or bypass it.
Malice Manor features many scenes that will put chills down your spine. The ghoul playing a piano was great. The trophy room was wild. Scares come from everywhere at Malice Manor. You’re never truly safe because even the floor might violently vibrate. I usually don’t get scared of animatronics, but at this haunt it’s different because some are so damn close. The flying witch is the first to comes to mind. We have few complaints when it comes to Malice Manor. The chainsaw maze could use more detail and decor, but that’s about it.
Total tour time was around 15 minutes, but could be longer depending on your interaction with the monsters and madmen. The ticket booth is located outside this season. General admission is $25, $40 for Fast Pass and $60 for front of the line. Parking is free. After you get your picture taken, you’ll enter the haunt. You can purchase the photo in their gift shop. This is where you can purchase Malice Manor Merchandise like T-Shirts, hoodies, beanies and more. There were various vendors onsite like jewelry, food and more. Trunk or Treat at Malice Manor is October 29th from 6pm-8pm. The new facade near the queue line is gorgeous. Malice Manor has heightened the scares this season and has delivered a new version of fear. Lord Rancor is waiting.
