Hell’s Dungeon (Dayton, OH)
“The Twisted Reign of Lord Rufus”
By Noah Wullkotte: jollypumpkin@aol.com
Hell’s Dungeon is an indoor attraction that offers a variety of scares. You’re going to scream, jump and laugh your ass off. There are some interesting characters along the way. The elevator attendant has lost his mind as you go down multiple floors. Meet your doom. A girl warns of a bomb threat inside the schoolhouse as she walks nervously. The graveyard features a corpse that’s brought back to life. Watch out or you’ll become one of the living dead.
Hell’s Dungeon does an excellent job with its actors that portray clowns. They’re some of the best around. Press a button that activates an animatronic clown that wants you to get the hell out of Hell’s Dungeon. Clowns with massive mallets get closer and closer to smashing your feet. This was quite intense. The animated airplane will catch some people off guard.
You’ll meet Lord Rufus inside the finale of Hell’s Dungeon. We thought his placement was better this season, but the audio on his voice changer was a little muffled where we couldn’t understand everything he was saying. The 3D section of Hell’s Dungeon is great. There are skulls that decorate the walls and even a room that looks like it’s made of silly sting. The vortex tunnel is a portal to Hell’s Dungeon. Unfortunately it was running a little slow the night we visited.
Hell’s Dungeon has interactive elements that will make you jump out of your skin. You’ll be attacked by a massive killer pumpkin and even a saw blade. The acting is better than ever at Hell’s Dungeon. We were in the attraction for 30 minutes and there are some crazy characters we met along the way. A woman is obsessed with serial killers and you’re going to smell the polka dots in the polka dot room. A creature covered in eye balls lunged at us as we tried to escape in one piece. You’ll explore sections such as Hell’s Dungeon, Maniacal Asylum, and Dark Visions 3D. Some rooms could benefit from sound effects or music. It was much easier navigating through the haunt this season. There were few times where we got confused where we were going.

(Dungeon Dartz is a mobile Nerf and gel blaster event at Hell’s Dungeon.)
Hell’s Dungeon is better than ever. The actors are more intense, there’s more detail and you’re going to have a blast walking through its haunted halls. Tickets are $26 and parking is free. Be sure to save your ticket for $3 off admission if you plan on visiting again. Hell’s Dungeon uses a virtual queue system where they’ll text you when it’s your time to enter.
This gives you an opportunity to check out their new Dungeon Dartz Blacklight arena. Dungeon Dartz is a mobile Nerf and gel blaster event that covers 6,500 square feet. Make your reservation today. The haunt is 30 minutes which is a few minutes longer than last season. Hell’s Dungeon has a variety of concessions in their gift shop when you exit. It includes dolls, pins, and more. This is also where you can purchase your group photo that was taken before entering the haunt. There’s also a claw machine, snack machine and more.
