The Haunted Hotel isn’t your run of the mill haunted house and it’s not for the faint of heart. This is a no holds barred, in your face experience that you won’t soon forget. You will be grabbed, pushed and verbally assaulted. The Haunted Hotel is intense beyond belief and you’ll never be the same once you make it out alive. There’s a reason why it’s the longest running haunt in the state of Kentucky. It’s that damn good and it takes no prisoners.
The first character you’ll meet is Mr. Gribbons. He’s the proprietor of The Haunted Hotel and he prepares you for what you’re about to experience. Get ready for Hell on earth as you wander the dark hallways of The Haunted Hotel. Gustav is the hotel’s elevator operator and something has gone horribly wrong with the elevator. The Haunted Hotel is infamous for its Hellevator. It’s extremely realistic and Gustav gets up close and personal as the elevator malfunctions. Watch him as he blows smoke out of his mouth.
The Haunted Hotel is a sensory overload on another level. The actors are insane and so are the scenes. The basement has been flooded and one room has you going to battle with killer plants that want to tear you from limb to limb. Many of the characters use foul language which adds to the realism of the haunt. I thought I was safe as I was walking down a dark hallway when suddenly I was grabbed by an actor. She told me that if I turned a light on that she would f***ing kill me. How’s that for hospitality?
The Haunted Hotel features actors of all shapes and sizes. One of the most memorable characters was a woman of very small stature who pounded on glass that was illuminated with a blue light. She later emerged and proceeded to follow us. The half man, half pig monsters in the wooden maze were creepy beyond belief and who can forget the chainsaw maniacs. These crazed killers are relentless and will hunt you down with their gas powered chainsaws. They come out of nowhere and you will be running for your life. They’re bat shit crazy.
The Haunted Hotel is a wicked haunt. Even the priest is mentally disturbed and you might be offered sexual favors in the house of debauchery. A shirtless man will do anything for a dollar or two. The Haunted Hotel has plenty of eye candy. The sewer has toxic waste and a skeleton is the only thing left from someone who fell in. A corpse inside the hotel has been decimated and now it’s just a torso that sprays blood on people who walk by.
The Haunted Hotel never ceases to amaze me with its intensity and the way it makes you feel dirty after you’ve left. It’s truly something special and a Louisville haunt icon. Total tour time is close to 20 minutes and there are very few haunts that are as unique as The Haunted Hotel. You’ll be looking around the corner waiting for something or someone to pop out.

That demented nun who was giving me the stink eye.
