Hanna Haunted Acres 2022 Review

Hanna Haunted Acres (Indianapolis, IN)
“30 Years of Country Terror”
By Noah Wullkotte: jollypumpkin@aol.com

Hanna Haunted Acres has been scaring the living daylights out of Indianapolis for 30 years. Hanna Haunted Hayride is the most popular attraction at Hanna Haunted Acres and for good reason. It’s fun, full of impressive animatronics and there are a few unique scenes here and there. You’ll explore a graveyard with a mausoleum and a poor soul that’s been buried alive. He cries out for help. Other scenes include a barn with scarecrows, a slaughter house, an invasion of vampires, a train crash and so much more. This is an attraction that has so many animatronics that it’s hard to list them all. Some of my favorites are the animated headless horseman and the massive pumpkin king. Total tour time was 14 minutes.

Freakshow features a variety of scenes. Experience a broken down carnival, oddities, a woman cut in half, a room full of clown heads, a circus with animals and pure craziness. The large rising sleeping giant was impressive. It’s a short haunt lasting only 4 minutes, but it’s good while it lasts. Acres Manor Haunted Mansion is a nicely designed haunt with scenes such as a haunted dinning room, a haunted kitchen and more. This haunt is full of CGI portraits that really bring a scene to life. It’s short lasting only 6 minutes, but it’s enjoyable none the less.

Descension is a 4 minute haunt where you’ll venture through haunted catacombs, corridors and cave like structures. There’s a glowing laser swamp, a bridge that tilts and many surprises along the way. There’s plenty of detail, but very few actors. Cannibal Chaos is a gory haunt full of dead bodies, blood, guts and more. You’ll feel like you’re entering a shack in the back of the woods that’s full of cannibals ready to much on your intestines. The Horror Fields is a typical corn maze with chainsaw maniacs and plenty of fog. We are notoriously bad at mazes and were in and out in under 10 minutes.

A big issue with Hanna Haunted Acres is its lack of actors. Without flesh and blood characters, the haunts seem more like fun houses than haunts. They’re also quite short. Hanna Haunted Acres is 14 minutes, but the rest of the attractions are 4-6 minutes with the exception of Horror Fields. The corn field maze can be long or short depending on how good you are at mazes.

Hanna Haunted Acres has a variety of concessions including hot dogs, hamburgers, kettle corn, caramel apples and more. The Apple Silo was pretty cool. You’ll also notice that there’s a psychic, carnival games, new photo op stations, axe throwing, Deadzone Virtual Reality, bonfires and more. General admission is $27.95-$38.95. Fast Pass admission is $43.95. Hayride only is $18.95-$23.95. A comb unlimited ticket is $32.95-$49.95 and you can tour each haunt as many times as you want. All tickets are $5.05 onsite.

Hanna Haunted Acres has a lot of creative scenes, but they need more actors for the haunts to be effective. We always enjoy our time at this haunted scream park and we think you will too.
