“Wanna Play A Game”

On a dark and spooky farm in the backwoods of Indianapolis is Hanna Haunted Acres. Hanna Haunted Acres is a place where people go, but don’t come out with their sanity intact. Hanna Haunted Acres consists of 6 different attractions. These include Hanna Haunted Hayride, Saw, Scarecrow’s Revenge, Carnevil, Hide & Seek and Medical Malpractice. The newest haunt for the 2013 season is “Saw”. A Jigsaw dummy hangs from the ceiling as people wait to get inside.
Saw features scenes that you’ll recognize from the popular horror franchise. There are many torture devices and you’ll encounter Jigsaw multiple times. We enjoyed how creative some of the animatronics were. One had a guy getting his head drilled from both sides and another displayed a victim getting torn apart. Jigsaw makes an appearance throughout the haunt and you’ll see the clock count down. There really aren’t too many scenes to speak of except for the infamous bathroom scene from the original Saw. Everything else is pretty much based on the different ways people died in the movies. The man getting sawed in half with a pendulum was my personal favorite. We enjoyed the haunt, but the acting could be better and scenes could be more detailed. There’s too much reliance on animatronics.
The next haunt on our list was Hanna Haunted Hayride. This is the most popular haunt at the farm and one of our favorite hayrides we ride every year. The hayride is a 15 minute journey into the haunted forest. Hanna Haunted Hayride does a great job at utilizing both animatronics and actors. There have been many changes made for the 2013 season. You’ll enter scenes such as a spider’s lair, a haunted cathedral, the pits of Hell, a werewolf village and more. One of our favorite scenes is the runaway train scene. A train has broken away from its track and crashes into the wagon. We also enjoy the combine chase since it’s one of the most intense vehicle chases of any hayride we’ve been to.
Hanna Haunted Hayride features many high tech animatronics. You’ll see an animated Headless Horseman, a massive pumpkin king, a falling spider and much more. This is a great hayride that the entire family can enjoy. There are also many thrilling scenes that will appeal to an older crowd. If you only have time for a few haunts at Hanna Haunted Acres then please make the hayride one of your top priorities.
This year Hanna Haunted Acres has combined the majority of its haunts into one large haunt. Medical Malpractice, Hide & Seek and Carnevil are all in the same building. There’s no waiting in line between each haunt. Medical Malpractice is a hospital from your worst nightmares. Patients have run rampid and the medical staff wants to kill you. You’ll enter an ambulance, the x-ray room and various other rooms themed around a hospital.
Hide & Seek is a mixture of scenes and it resembles an old fashioned haunted house. There’s a doll room, a confrontation with a ventriloquist dummy, lights that flicker on and off and lots more. Next you’ll experience Carnevil. Carnevil is a 3D haunt with objects that come to life thanks to 3D Glasses. You’ll enter a vortex tunnel, a polka dot room and encounter many mutant clowns. This haunt is full of beautiful artwork and animatronics here and there. We really liked the massive animated jack in the box. Don’t forget to check out The Gore Store after you exit Carnevil. They have a variety of makeup supplies and more.
Last, but certainly not least is Scarecrow’s Revenge. Scarecrow’s Revenge is a haunted corn maze where you must find your way out. It’s not too confusing since we were able to find the exit in less than 20 minutes. But it all depends on the person going through. Scarecrow’s Revenge isn’t as intense as the other haunts at Hanna Haunted Acres, but it’s still enjoyable. After you’re done with the haunts, be sure to sit down and relax in Hanna’s 21 and older area. You can sit down and enjoy some beer in front of a bonfire. There’s a concession trailer that serves a variety of alcoholic beverages. There are also plenty of food concessions in case you wanted to get a bite to eat.
A combo pass for all attractions is $29 and $27 online. A Fast Pass to skip the lines is $40 onsite or $38 online. Purchase an unlimited wristband for $35. This allows you to tour the haunts as many times as you would like. Hanna Haunted Acres is an exciting place to go to and a great way to get scared this Halloween season.
