Highway 50 Fright Field 2018 Review

Highway 50 Fright Field (North Bend, OH)
“Hollywood Slashers and Ghoulish Ghouls”

The psychic wants you to get a little closer to enter her haunted lair. Let her tell you the rules of the haunt and you’ll be on your way to experience this year’s Highway 50 Fright Field. This is the first time we’ve been to this North Bend, Ohio attraction and we were pleasantly surprised by what we experienced. This 15 minute haunted adventure is located on an 1830’s farm near a real Indian archaeological site. You know you made it to the right place when you see a large clown head, Satan sitting on his throne and other props that decorate the building.

This is a haunt that combines elements of a haunted trail, corn maze and haunted house. There are original scenes and many horror movie recreations. We were grouped with two other people and they were petrified as they entered various bone chilling scenes. They were actually holding hands because of how scared they were. The new Halloween was released in October and Highway 50 Fright Field pays homage to the Haddonfield Slasher or who is better known as Michael Myers. He can be found terrorizing customers and near the grave site of his mother Judith Myers. The actor portraying The Shape does a great job scaring the socks off of everyone. Jason Voorhees is also pretty intimidating. You’ll see the masked killer at Camp Crystal Lake.

There are plenty of horror movie villains that will have you fleeing in terror. The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers can be found inside a school bus that’s full of white body bags hanging from the ceiling. These body bags are full of innocent children. The freak show is littered with crazy clowns. One killer clown runs around with a loud horn and Twisty from American Horror Story: Freak Show likes to stalk his victims. The old fashioned fortune teller machine was a nice touch. You’ll also encounter characters like Freddy Krueger, The Jackal from Thirteen Ghosts  and there are plenty of flesh eating zombies.

The fall out shelter features animated steel barrels and the living dead. This haunt has typical themed rooms like the Egyptian Temple with an animated mummy. There aren’t a huge amount of animatronics, but there are just enough that compliment scenes. The morgue has old doors that mysteriously open. Whenever we saw a hearse, there was a small flag that said reserved for funeral parking. A few scenes take place inside storage containers which was pretty cool. Highway 50 Fright Field was unfortunately only able to open 4 and half days because of the rainy weather this season.

The Haunted Cornfield & Woods is their main attraction and tickets are $12 for adults. Kid’s tickets are $10.  A combo ticket that includes the nighttime Corn Maze and main attraction is $15 per person. Operation Termination Zombie Paintball is $12 per person. There’s a daytime corn maze which is only $5 per person and there’s even Gem Mining. Prices vary on Gem Mining. You’ll get your tickets at the Buckeye Trading Post. This is a great gift shop with Halloween masks, crafts, Tarot Cards, novelty gifts and more. They even had original props from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. At the left of the Buckeye Trading Post is a concessions trailer with food and refreshments. We got a combo for $3.50. It included a hotdog, bag of chips and a can of pop. We almost missed the concessions trailer. A sign pointing you in the right direction would definitely help. There’s plenty of picnic style seating for those who want to sit down. There were also a few queue line actors and the queue line features flashing lights, fog, sirens, skeletons and zombies. Don’t forget to get your photo taken in front of their hearse, clown head or Satan.

Highway 50 Fright Field surprised us since they’ve only been around since 2013 and it’s quite spooky. The actors are good, the scenes are eye catching and the location is great. It’s a fun place to go during the Halloween season. We highly recommend that you pay Highway 50 Fright Field a visit. The scoring is based on their main attraction which is the Haunted Cornfield & Woods.
