Face Your Fears: Hotel of Terror (Springfield, OH)
“Hilga the Witch Welcomes You”
By Noah Wullkotte: Visited on 9/26/26
What kind of spirits await you at this 1853 hotel? The entrance is guarded by menacing gargoyles and skeletons cling to life as they can be seen attached to the side of the building. A massive tree surrounds this house of horrors. Will the restless spirits awaken and will you survive Face your Fears Hotel of Terror? This Springfield, Ohio haunt is one of the best around. Scary doesn’t begin to describe what you’re about to experience.
Face Your Fears features a plethora of creepy characters like Hilga the Witch. She wants to make a meal out of you and she will pull you closer if you let her. The Harvester is a bird like hooded monster who will grab a hold of you as you scream in pure terror. Beware of the basement because the Jackal calls it her home. She wears a cage around her head and might separate you from your group. A skull faced priest performs an incantation as he holds a small skull that flashes red. Other twisted characters include cannibals, a killer librarian, a winged angel statue that comes alive and much much more.
We highly recommend that you purchase a touch pass for three additional dollars. It elevates the fear factor to another level. I was placed on a table, attacked and was unsure what would happen next. The chainsaw maniacs at Face Your Fears are some of the best. They will rub their gas powered murder weapons against your skin. They’re relentless to say the least. The psychopaths at this haunt love to use weapons on their victims. A serial killer wanted to hit my hand with a mallet and there’s nothing like having a drill get closer and closer to penetrating your skin. Everything is out to get you at Face Your Fears even the props. A massive rat can be found in the wine cellar and wants to take a bite out of you.
Face Your Fears is a very detailed haunt. The cemetery is above ground and reminded me of something straight out of New Orleans. Other scenes include a church with monks sitting in pews. It’s your job to figure out which one is real. Are you up for the challenge? A thunder storm is brewing in the scary swamp. You never know what’s lurking in the darkness. Face Your Fears features 2 swamps. The other one is a laser swamp that has a green glow. Find your way out before the maniacal monster gets you. Much of the interior resembles a real hotel from the 1800s. Enter the dining room that’s been engulfed in flames before the table opens up to reveal an animatronic surprise.

Face Your Fears utilizes many animatronics that will make you jump out of your skin. Books mysteriously move, a poor soul is eaten by a spider, a zombie relentlessly shakes, a screaming grandma rips the hair out of her head and there’s much more delicious eye candy to wet your sick appetite. One room has flesh eaters burst out of the walls as you try to escape in one piece. The vortex tunnel will make you dizzy as it spins around and around. There’s even a butler animatronic that will definitely get your attention.
Total tour time was 22 minutes with very few times where something interesting wasn’t happening. Face you Fears is something truly special, but you need to spend the 3 additional dollars for the touch pass. A haunt is much more suspenseful when the element of touch is incorporated. The haunt is also longer since the various characters will be interacting with you more. You can tell that a lot of people chickened out since there were a few glow necklaces left behind in the wine cellar.
Face your Fears now uses timed ticketing. Tickets are $22 per person, Fast Pass is $32, VIP (Includes Touch Pass) is $50 and a touch pass is plus $3. Walking Tacos, pizza, soda, water and more were available at the food trailer. Face Your Fears merchandise is available to purchase. Their T-Shirt and hoodie designs are pretty cool. Be sure to take a picture of the beautiful fountain or warm up at their fire pit. There’s a photo-op station to get your picture taken in front of. Horror movies usually play on the projector screen, but weren’t the night we visited. Parking was a donation of your choosing that night. Parking proceeds go towards a High School Golf team. This haunt is very easy to find since they have a bright sign and school bus at the entrance.
What else can we really say about Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror? This is one of those haunts that really knows how to deliver scares in an extreme way. We definitely recommend that you drive out to this Springfield, Ohio haunt and let the fear consume you.
