Face Your Fears: Hotel of Terror (Springfield, OH)
“Springdale’s House of Horrors”
By Noah Wullkotte: Jollypumpkin@aol.com
A storm is brewing and the wind howls like a banshee in the night. Grim reapers guard the entrance of an old building that’s been illuminated with red and blue lights. Are you brave enough to enter this house of horrors or will you become a believer in ghosts?
Face Your Fears: Hotel of Terror is one of the spookiest haunts you’ll visit. A feeling of dread came over me when we parked the car. I had an uneasy feeling as I walked through its haunted halls. This haunt takes place in an 1853 building that’s surrounded by a massive tree. Who really knows what events took place in this creepy building? You’ll soon find out.
Face Your Fears is one of our favorite haunts in Southwest Ohio. Your adventure begins as you enter an old elevator. Something is terribly wrong and the elevator begins to malfunction. Get ready for a wild and bumpy ride as the elevator violently shakes and falls down several stories. This is one of the better Hellevators we’ve experienced. It’s simple, but very effective.
Face Your Fears has customers entering numerous rooms that could be found in an old hotel. One of our favorites is the bar where the bar tender is murdered. The killer holds the victim’s head up in the air as if it was a trophy. This is a house that the Devil has built and you may even witness a live possession. A bed room has a girl who’s possessed by a demon. Some strange things occur and you’ll definitely be running like Hell.
Face Your Fears features some unique characters and some horrifying props. One of the standout creatures is the large boar faced killer who stands on stilts and carries a massive hatchet. The tool shed is home to a psychopath with a large mallet and he’s ready to make you beg for mercy. Watch out for the hillbilly with a shotgun because he’s not too kind to strangers.
The outside section has been improved. It’s full of high startle props and many off the wall characters. You’ll see a freak floating in a large tank, a circular saw cutting into a helpless man, the classic electric chair, a pig and human roasted on an open fire and more.
Face Your Fears features one of the most impressive vortex tunnels we’ve seen and one of the creepiest rooms. The final scene is a dark and damp basement where you’ll meet Leatherface and a poor girl with her doll. This is quite effective since the only time you’ll see a chainsaw being used is in the basement.
Face Your Fears is $12 a person and you’ll be in and out in about 15 minutes. The creators of this spine tingling haunt have a lot planned for the near future. We’re looking forward to seeing how this haunt evolves and we highly recommend that you pay them a visit.
