Haunted Cave at Lewisburg-“Ghosts, Ghouls, Bats, Oh My”
Haunted Cave at Lewisburg is truly one of those special haunts that you look forward to all year round. Where else in Ohio can you walk inside a dark, haunted limestone cave and come out alive in one piece? This is the one and only Haunted Cave at Lewisburg.

Length-10: Your trip through the dark and damp cave will take 40 minutes or more depending on how well you escape the maze entrapments. There are very few dead spots and always something frightening to occupy your time. This truly is the longest haunt we’ve experienced this year. You could conceivably spend upwards to a full hour if you get lost in the various mazes. They are that difficul to navigate.

Design-9: This year the creators have stepped up their design skills and have taken Haunted Cave at Lewisburg to another level. Years ago this haunt would change its theme from year to year and only have a few standout scenes you would encounter. But 2008 is a whole different story. There are a variety of new frightening scenes with the addition of the newest and greatest technology.

You’ll experience a wall that magically comes alive as you pass by. This scene is created with the use of spandex. Since this material is very stretchy, it’s very easy for an actor to manipulate it in any shape or form it wants. And once an actor puts his face behind the spandex it creates an effect that mimics the wall coming to life. A similar effect can be seen in the original Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Other scenes include a haunted doll shack, 2 impossible mazes, a spooky graveyard and an incredible swamp.

If you’ve ever been to Industrial Nightmare in Jeffersonville, IN then you have experienced a similar scene. You’ll suddenly see a bright green laser light above and slowly you’ll sink into large air bags which simulate the effect of being stuck in quick sand as you struggle for your life. It’s an intense scene and if you’re claustrophobic it may get to you. Haunted Cave at Lewisburg is full of frightful scenes that are sure to put a chill down your spine.

Props/Animatronics-9: Many of the props you’ll come across are obviously homemade, but are activated at the perfect time when you least expect it. A large amount of the props can be seen in the cave’s incredible graveyard. These include rising ghouls, flying zombie and much more. This year Haunted Cave at Lewisburg has incorporated some unique effects that many of the larger big budget haunts contain such as the ever popular claustrophobia chambers, the spinning vortex tunnel and so much more.

Acting-9: Haunted Cave at Lewisburg has always been known for having a large amount of actors at one haunt. But over the years more and more child actors were added to the haunt creating a less than frightening experience. But this year is much different. The cast is comprised of more adults and more mature kids. But not only is the cast more mature, they are much more interactive with customers. Time and time again we were grabbed, pulled and I was actually separated from my group. But I surely won’t give away the rest of this surprise.

This year’s cast is just much more intense and relentless. Additional engaging dialogue from a few actors would increase the score in this category. Standout characters of the night include the devilish satan, the ghouls who roam the entrapment mazes and of course the back woods hick who keeps watch over the graveyard. You are in for a spooky good time.

Scare Effect-10: Being inside a dark spooky cave at night is a frightening experience of its own. You never know what’s hiding in the water or what lurks in the shadows. This year characters touch, grab and even separate you from your group. This is an intense haunt to say the least and a unique haunt everyone should experience.

Fright Value: $10 is an incredible deal for a haunt that could last upwards of an hour. This is a real deal when it comes to startles and scares. Please make sure and print out a $1 off coupon available at www.hauntedcaveatlewisburg.com.

Final Stab-9.4: This is arguably the best Haunted Cave at Lewisburg has ever been. For years you were leaded by a tour guide through various scenes. But for the last couple of years you’ve been left alone to fend for yourself in the dark and twisted cave. Please make sure and drive out to Lewisburg, OH this year to experience one of the most intense and unique haunts that Ohio has to offer. This is the one and only Haunted Cave at Lewisburg.
