“A Haunted Adventure Awaits You”
By Noah Wullkotte: jollypumpkin@aol.com
A haunted adventure awaits you at Brimstone Haunted Hayride. This 17 minute tour through terrifying scenes will entertain and frighten you. Get your picture taken before getting in line for Brimstone Haunted Hayride. Group Photos will be texted to you and they’re $7.99 a piece. Brimstone Haunted Hayride is known for its vehicle chases and boy are there plenty. Drive past combines that are on fire. Try to out run a fire truck if you can and go one on one with the headless horseman. The headless Horseman holds a light up severed head in his hand as he gallops away. There is a total of three chase vehicles this season, but I won’t ruin the surprises.
New this year is the two story penitentiary. It features crazy inmates, an electric chair and a prison bus. It’s a great opening scene that must have taken a while to build. The Brimstone Drive Thru Theater has Night of the Living Dead playing on the projector screen. Don’t block the movie or you’ll have various attacks attack. The scarecrow forest is very mysterious and you never quite feel safe. There’s an invasion of Jack-o’-lanterns. Drive past the slaughter barn where a psychopath wearing a large pig mask is out to get you. There are a variety of scenes at Brimstone Haunted Hayride which includes a saw mill where a man is cut in half, a freak show with an over the top roller coaster, a chop shop, junkyard and more.
Music plays on a blue tooth speaker that’s on the wagon and it’s synchronized to almost every scene. This makes the haunt quite immersive. There are some dead spots here and there where little is happening, but this isn’t a pattern. Every year there is a Drive Thru Theater scene as mentioned earlier and we would like this scene to be more intense. It would make sense to have zombies board the wagon since they’re playing Night of the Living Dead. Having a hillbilly fire a gun would definitely make people jump out of their skin. Brimstone Haunt has its intense moments, but it’s not too scary. It’s just the right amount of startle and it’s a good old time.
Next up is The Bog which was previously known as Forgotten Forest. We’re going to give you a taste of what this haunt has to offer without giving away every surprise. The Bog doesn’t follow an exact theme. It’s a mixture of rooms that will creep you out. This year there’s a Halloween Store, Barber Shop and Movie Theater. The facades are very detailed which makes the haunt realistic in a sense. The speak easy bar is out of liquor. Maybe you would like some poison. This is a spooky haunt with a few scenes we don’t see at many haunted trails. One that comes to mind is the birthday party. Yes, I said birthday party. Sing Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girl who wants a birthday surprise. One actor has a demonic teddy bear for a mask.
You’ll find Brimstone Haunt’s best actors at The Bog. The Hospital features a doctor who wants your severed hands and feet. You’ll explore scenes such as Brimstone High School (AKA East Pines) where the school bus driver has been murdered. There are desks, lockers, missing persons posters, a drinking fountain and anything you would find in an old high school. These are some scary students. The graveyard is full of you guessed it, zombies. There’s also an evil vampire bat creature that gets up close and personal. Walk through a mausoleum full of skeletons and walk past tombstones, caskets and more.

A Halloween house has a trick or treater that makes her candy filled pumpkin spark. The toxic waste zone had two actors, one with a gas mask and another who looked like they were infected or mutated. Walk past an ice cream truck where a killer clown has ice cream cones for horns. Welcome to the circus and you better smile. Enter the clown dressing room and a spinning vortex tunnel that goes around and around. If you love carnivals then you’re in for a real treat at The Bog. It’s a carnival from hell to say the least. Many of the scenes have their own soundtrack. My favorite was the ice cream truck that played the Mister Softee theme. We were in and out in 18 minutes.
Last but certainty not least is Psychosis. This is one of the most intense haunts at Brimstone Haunt. I would call it a hard rock horror house since hard rock music plays throughout the haunt. Total tour time was 7 minutes. Enter an elevator that’s for authorized personnel only and leads to Tunnel 6. Psychosis has its fair share of actors, but it’s mostly unique scenes that will make you jump. There’s a hanging corpse that flies at you, an electric chair, a large killer robot, a rampaging truck, a huge saw blade that comes at you and more. This is a fun attraction with some standout characters. My favorite is the crazed psycho who can be seen eating a corpse. The elevator attendant was also pretty good.
Various characters interact with customers outside of the haunts. A killer clown said that I smelled like rotten apples. There’s a lot of fun to be had at Brimstone Haunt. Don’t forget to check out the Midway. This is where you’ll find Zombie Assault, Dead Shot Paintball, Cranium Crusher, Hallow-Ring Toss and Axe Throwing. Zombie Assault is a unique CGI experience that’s a bloody good time. Shoot brain eating zombies at Dead Shot Paintball and get the brain back into the cranium with Cranium Crusher. Halloween Ring Toss and Axe Throwing are self explanatory.
Brimstone Offers a lot in the way of concessions. There’s a beer barn, lemonade, pizza and Sinister Snacks. Sinister Snacks has pretzels, chili, hot dogs, nachos, mini donuts, hot chocolate, cider and more. The merchandise building sell hoodies, shirts, cups and so fourth. If you get chili then sit by the fire pit to warm your bones or take it easy on one of the many benches.
It’s $22.99 if you want to experience just a single attraction. Unlimited Access to all 3 attractions is $36.99. Fast Pass Unlimited gets you unlimited access to the three attractions plus you get to skip the regular line. The Ultimate Experience is $49.99 and includes entry to all 3 main attractions plus unlimited access to all midway experiences. Fast Pass Ultimate includes everything in the Ultimate Experience plus you get to skip the regular line. It’s $64.99.
Family Fun Night is on Sunday October 27th from 5pm – 8pm. It’s good for entry to The Hayride and The Bog with trick or treating. Lights Out takes place on November 2nd and includes access to The Bog and Psychosis in complete darkness. Tickets are $28.99. Lights Out Ultimate is $42.99 and includes unlimited access to The Bog and Psychosis. Scary Little Christmas is December 7th and 8th. Ohio Renaissance and Brimstone Haunt Unlimited combo tickets are $55. These combo tickets sell out quickly. Ticket prices for each ticketing package are higher if purchased on-site.
Brimstone Haunt is a fun haunted event that’s great for family and friends. There’s great scares, good food and loads of fond memories.
