Brimstone Haunt (Wilmington, OH)
“The Boogeyman Takes Shape”
By Noah Wullkotte: Visited on 9/25/26
Brimstone Haunt celebrates their 10th year of fear at Renaissance Park in Wilmington, Ohio. We were ready for true terror and would we be able to tell the tale? This is City Blood’s 2026 review of Brimstone Haunt.
Boogeyman is Brimstone Haunt’s newest nightmare. This 10,000 square foot house of horrors will raise your heart rate and make you scream. The minds behind Brimstone Haunt have been working hard on this attraction since January and it has paid off. Enter an 1800s home that’s been taken over by the Boogeyman. You’ll notice right away that the audio is pretty incredible. The impressive sound system was thumping and made the haunt more immersive and intimidating. Sounds of laughter from the Boogeyman was a nice touch. The song Ring Around the Rosie playing was pretty creepy to say the least.
The Boogeyman takes many forms. He appears as a spider creature, clown, a very tall man and more. The mental patient with sharp teeth and missing hair was bone chilling. He somewhat resembled the Boogeyman as he held his bear. Speaking of bears, watch out for the creature with the demonic teddy bear mask. He’s out to get you.
The rooms are quite large with areas that could benefit from more props and spooky decor. This isn’t to say that there aren’t many scenes with plenty of eerie eye candy because there are. This includes Burlington Asylum, a Spider infestation, a bedroom, a creepy kitchen, a bedroom where a girl is eaten by her bed, a depraved birthday party and much much more. It really does resemble an old house from the 1800s.
Our favorite prop is the monster attached to the wall. He proceeds to eat a kid as its feet hang out of its mouth. It’s pretty frightening and very unique. Another eye catching animatronic features a psychopath strapped to a metal table as it goes through a little shock therapy. Boogeyman is a different breed of haunt in how it features many versions of the Boogeyman throughout the experience. Scenes are pretty dark with some crazy creatures and bad ass actors. I was surrounded by mental patients who jumped from bed to bed. The Boogeyman has made them go absolutely insane.
The Boogeyman is only 8 minutes in length, but it felt substantially longer for some reason. Boogeyman replaces Psychosis and is a much better attraction. We look forward to seeing how Boogeyman evolves and becomes better and better in the future. It’s a welcome addition to Brimstone Haunt.
The Bog is a quality haunted trail with great lighting and sound. A lot of time and effort has been put into building realistic looking structures. This is a quite detailed haunt. The bate shop features a pop machine, freezer, life jackets that hang on the wall and so much more. There’s a movie theater, Halloween Store with pumpkins, a grocery store truck and more. Houses are slanted as you walk past them. A bar has been taken over by the undead. Will you drink the poison? East Pines High School will have you checking your locker and riding one twisted school bus. There’s a curfew in place and you better be home in time or else. Parts of the trail are filled with thick fog which makes the haunt eerie and beautiful. It’s hard to put into words, but you’ll understand when you visit. The Bog pays tribute to its past. In the graveyard, there’s a Springboro Haunted Hayride and Black Bog hearse and a tombstone dedicated those haunts as well.
The Bog has a variety of props that are sure to grab your attention. The cemetery is guarded by a massive vampire bat that flies in the air. The hazardous waste zone featured one of our favorite animatronics. It was a simple zombie, but its skin was melting. A flesh eater shakes a fence as it screams in terror. The Bayou Swamp is home to a massive crocodile that will eat you alive. The Bog has one of the better Vortex Tunnels that we experience. It will spin you around and around. Hold on for dear life or you might lose you lunch.
There are some interesting characters you’ll interact with. Mr. Moss is a plant like monster who gets closer and closer until you’re panicking. A Trick or Treater wants some candy and is willing to end your life for a sweet treat. The Ice Cream Truck plays entertaining tunes such as the Mr. Softee theme. A demonic clown with ice cream cones sticking out of his head comes out of hiding to greet you. This 16 minute tour of terror has very few dead spots and is action packed from beginning to end. You’ll experience a lot of thrilling scenes and you might even be chased by a chainsaw maniac.
Brimstone Haunted Hayride is an exciting haunted adventure through scenes of madness and pure wonder. This 18 minute ride in the darkness, fields and scary scenes will have you looking around every corner. Haunted Hayrides are much different than your typical haunt. The hayride driver is in charge of your destiny and you’re just along for the ride. Watching the reactions of the other passengers on the wagon is quite entertaining. They’re going to either laugh, smile, cry or scream their heads off.
Brimstone Haunted Hayride isn’t your typical hayride since each scene has its own scary soundtrack. Speakers are attached to the wagon and sound effects or music are synchronized to each area of the haunt. It makes the experience more immersive. Brimstone Haunted Hayride features quite a few breath taking chase scenes. You’ll be chased by a fire truck with a blaring siren. It’s intense and quite fun. The headless horseman makes his presence known as he gallops away as he holds a glowing severed head. There’s truly something special about the Headless Horseman. It just screams Halloween and I can’t say enough about the horse rider. Talent doesn’t begin to describe him. The combine chase is always a fan favorite, but could have been more intense.
Brimstone Haunted Hayride doesn’t follow an exact theme, but that’s alright since that makes the haunt more unpredictable. One of our favorite scenes is Area 51 which is the final scene of the attraction. Watch out for the large mutant that sprays water and the alien beings that want to attack. There’s something sinister waiting at Area 51. Another standout scene is Brimstone Penitentiary. This animatronic filled scene features clown prisoners and much more. The electric chair was very amusing. Fry baby fry! Other scenes include the Drive Thru Theater. Tonight’s movie is Night of the Living Dead. Mamaw’s Slaughter House includes one of the best animatronics at Brimstone Haunt. It’s a massive half human half wild boar monster holding their latest victim. Frank’s Body Shop was wild.
There’s plenty of detailed scenes at Brimstone Haunted Hayride. Brimstone Heights features a roller coaster and an upside down clown animatronic. This haunt does a great job with its pyro effects. Watch as flames shoot high into the air. Feel the heat on a cool fall night. There are some scenes that could be improved upon. The Drive-Thru Theater could be more action packed and include roaming zombies, shotgun wielding madmen and so fourth. But overall Brimstone Haunted Hayride is quite enjoyable on multiple fronts. It’s scary, funny and of course entertaining.
All the haunts at Brimstone Haunt are entertaining. There wasn’t a moment where I thought that I would rather be watching a Horror movie or doing something else. I was entering a live horror movie at the various attractions. It’s frightful fun for family, friends and fright seekers alike. Brimstone Haunt has a nice midway that’s grown a lot over the years. You’ll first walk between two nuclear reactors. Then it’s time to explore the grounds. There are a variety of carnival style games like Operation Doom, Hallow-Ring Toss, Flesh Throw, Cranium Crusher and more. If you want a bite to eat or a refreshing drink then you’re in luck. Brimstone Haunt has Sinister Snacks which includes pretzels, walking tacos, nachos, chili dogs and more. You can also purchase water, soda, cider, hot chocolate and more to quench your thirst. The Liquor Lab offers specialty drinks and the new Boogey Bites can be found near the entrance of Boogeyman. They offer sweet treats featuring delicious doughnut creations.
The Haunt Shop is near the line for the Haunted Hayride. This is where you can purchase Brimstone Haunt T-Shirts, Hoodies, beanies, drink koozies and much much more. Before entering the main line for the hayride, you’ll have your picture taken. Warm your bones on a cool fall night at the firepit. A live DJ was cranking out tunes that night and there were some mischievous monsters roaming around. Stitch, the pumpkin faced killer was my favorite. General admission is $40.99 and includes unlimited entry to all haunts. Fast pass general admission is $59.99 and Group General Admission for 10 guests or more is $37.99 per victim. You can purchase single attraction tickets for $24.99. Ultimate Experience tickets include unlimited entry to attractions plus midway games. Fast Pass Ultimate Experience is $65.99. Parking is free and tickets are cheaper online. Please visit www.brimstonehaunt.com for information on special events like Lights Out, Friday the 13th and Scary Little Christmas.
Brimstone Haunt has become a scream park you won’t soon forget. The new Boogeyman Attraction is very unique, the Hayride is very fun and The Bog is pretty creepy. You’ll have a night full of fright at Brimstone Haunt.
