Angel of Death Haunted Trail is a haunted attraction that’s in the middle of nowhere depending on which way you travel. The trek involves winding roads, long hills and creepy darkness. We arrived close to 9 pm and there weren’t many cars in the parking lot. Angel of Death had a lot of competition that night because of various Halloween parties and events that were taking place all across Ohio. An old woman with an emotionless face showed us the way to enter.
We slowly entered the facility and picked up our tickets. The building is warm and toasty and beautifully decorated. It was once used as a teen dance club and is now rented out for special occasions. Each table has a pumpkin as part of the tablescape which adds to the haunting atmosphere. Angel of Death is one of the only haunted trails to have its own liquor license. So, if you’re hungry or want a cold glass of beer while being scared shirtless, then make a trip out to Angel of Death Haunted Trail.
After checking out the place for a few minutes, we stepped outside and got in line. There was a small group of people in front of us. It’s always interesting to see what kind of people get scared at haunts and surprisingly the over 6 foot tall guy in front of me seemed a little nervous and hesitant about what he might experience. A spooky skeleton proceeded to tell us the rules of the haunt for a few minutes as we waited.
We waited less than 10 minutes for the wagon to pull up. We slowly walked up a few steps and got our seats. We were finally off on our journey through hell. It wasn’t a boring ride because we had plenty of company. An old man and woman sat across from us as they bickered back and fourth behind their creepy emotionless masks. The creepy old man had crusty teeth and the old woman looked like she may have recently passed away and was freshly dug up from the grave. There are also some surprise visitors you’ll encounter on your ride.
As we stepped off the wagon, it was our turn to enter Angel of Death Haunted Trail. We were pumped because it was the first year we had ever been to this haunt. A lot of the paths are lit with small solar lights which adds enough light to illuminate paths without being overpowering. Angel of Death Haunted Trail has a variety of scenes like a bedroom with a murderous bride, a torture chamber/jail, a graveyard with a slowly dimming light and more. Angel of Death isn’t a highly detailed attraction, but there are little things here and there that can be appreciated.
The clown house at Angel of Death is one of the most disorienting I’ve ever walked through. There’s so much fog and flashing lights, that it’s near impossible to see your hand in front of your face. Clowns are well hidden throughout the scene and pop out when you least expect it. It’s not a highly detailed area, but it’s effective none the less. Speaking of Clowns, Angel of Death has one of the best clowns we’ve come across. He’s an 8 foot tall giant who wants to eat you like a chicken wing. He’ll stalk you for many yards and is hilarious. Watch out for the head that pops out of his pants.
You’ll also walk through cornfields, dark hallways and more. Angel of Death has many elements that will play upon your fears from a fear of loud sounds to a fear of tight spaces. This is a fun haunted trail that lasts around 20 minutes and is a great deal at $10 a ticket. It can be pretty intense at moments and is a haunt that’s worth checking out.
