This year Nightmare on Edgewood is at a brand new location at 1959 S. Meridian Street in Indianapolis, IN. When you get out of your car, you’ll notice a Last Ride Angel of Death Hearse out front. An 18 foot grim reaper rises from the top of a hearse holding onto a screaming victim that thrashes back and forth as he’s being pulled back in by demons.
A massive sleeping giant recites the rules of Nightmare on Edgewood before you enter. He slowly stands to 11 feet tall striking fear into those who confront him. Nightmare on Edgewood consists of 3 haunts. These are Edgewood Sanitarium, House of Trepidation and Conley Farm. This is a very hands on haunt. You’ll be pushed, pulled and possibly picked up in the air. You might even be separated from your group. How long you’re inside the haunt is dependent how each character interacts with you.
This is a very intense haunt with very detailed sets and plenty of delicious eye candy. Scenes include a spider infestation, tool shed, a killer who skinned someone alive, a doll room with a one eyed living doll, the living room, a nasty bathroom and much more. There’s plenty of scenes that will make you jump out of your skin and some that will creep you out to no end. The last scene you’ll experience is breath taking.
A dinning room is serving up some delicious treats when suddenly the table opens up to reveal a group of zombies. Another amazing special effect is the Hellevator. Enter a hospital elevator that has malfunctioned. There’s realistic movements, CGI animation and dynamic sound.
A doctor wants your name so he’s sure to know what to put on your tombstone. Say ahh and open up. The Edgewood Sanitarium felt like a real mental hospital with patients blankly staring as you walked past them. There are plenty of interactive elements to Nightmare on Edgewood. Not only are the actors physical, so are some of their props. My personal favorite is the Crocasaurus Actormatronic. Walk past a massive crocodile head as it crashes into you. What makes this scene unique is that the crocodile has water pouring down on it. There are a lot of interesting characters at Nightmare on Edgewood. You might see a killer bunny. Yes, I said a killer bunny.
How long you’re in and out of Nightmare on Edgewood depends on how the actors torment you. Total tour time was 20 minutes. Tickets are $25 and Fast Pass admission is $40. Click here for $2 off general admission. It’s not valid for Fast Pass tickets. There are concessions available such as food, drinks and Nightmare on Edgewood merchandise. Trick or Treat is on October 24th from 4pm-6pm. Lights Out with Classic Horror Villains takes place on November 5th and 6th. Holiday Nightmares takes place on December 10th from 7pm-10pm and December 11th from 7pm-11pm. All bags will be searched at the door and all customers will be checked with a metal detector before entering the venue. No weapons of any kind are allowed inside.
Nightmare on Edgewood is a very intense attraction where you’ll be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. If the actors don’t scare you, then the actormatronics are sure to get you. There’s a reason they’ve been around for over 40 years. They produce quality haunts and memorable scares.
