Dead Acres/Haunted Hoochie (Pataskala, OH)
“Fasten Your Seat belts, It’s Gonna Be A Bumpy Ride”
By Noah Wullkotte: Jollypumpkin@aol.com

Haunted Hoochie at Dead Acres is one of America’s most extreme and controversial haunts. A woman with her ass hanging out danced in a go go cage as we waited in line. Haunted Hoochie is not your typical attraction since it uses graphic scenes you’re not going to see at many haunts. This is a fast paced haunt where you’ll be running in pure terror as you try to escape the madness.

Just imagine that you’ve just entered a sick and twisted snuff film where you’ll witness some extreme violence and one of a kind murder scenes. The blood flows at Haunted Hoochie and there’s plenty of graphic scenes to wet your sick appetite. A poor soul gets his faced peeled off with a machete, a clown is decapitated, a man commits suicide with a shotgun and there’s even a live demon birth. But you didn’t actually think I would give away all the surprises, did you? This is a haunt that doesn’t play by the rules. The blood literally sprays all over the place at Haunted Hoochie.

Nothing is too controversial for Haunted Hoochie. The cursed church is full of scantily clad nuns and there’s even a burning pentagram above an alter. This is an over the top scene and you’re sure to question what you just witnessed. Haunted Hoochie is full of high tech props which include dragons, a T-Rex skeleton, the 13 foot Impaler monster, a machine gun that fires blanks, a loud truck that crashes into the wall, a floating angel of death and much more.

Haunted Hoochie is known for being extreme, but it’s also a highly detailed haunt. New this year is Flight 666. Welcome to Hoochie Airlines where you’ll board an airplane and the staff has gone insane. Haunted Hoochie has a variety of scenes including a junkyard, graveyard, prison escape and much much more. The actors are intense. You will be grabbed, yelled at and have chainsaws rubbed up against your legs. This is a crazy haunt to say the least.

The total experience was around 21 minutes which is slightly longer than last year. I unfortunately missed two scenes because there were so many people put into a room at once. I was only able to see the aftermath of the bloody skit. Tickets are $25 which includes admission to Haunted Hoochie and Bad Trip in 3D. VIP Speedpass tickets are $45. Haunted Hoochie has some of the longest lines of any haunt I’ve been to. So, be prepared to wait in line for a long time unless you by a VIP ticket or show up very early. Parking is $3 per vehicle. There are various concessions available like hoodies, beanies, food and more.

Bad Trip in 3D is a fun attraction. It reminds me of a fun house, but taken to the extreme. This haunt is full of props ranging from mutant clowns to a a large animated cyclops eye. It’s not necessarily scary, but it’s an entertaining experience none the less. The 3D effects are pretty cool and it’s just amazing how many crazy props they were able to fit into one building. There are more actors this year and some new additions. So put on your 3D Glasses and get ready for Bad Trip in 3D. Total tour time is around 5 minutes. Bad Trip in 3D has not been scored since we consider it a maze instead of a full fledged attraction.

Dead Acres has two quality haunts which are Haunted Hoochie and Bad Trip in 3D. Haunted Hoochie has become one of the most talked about haunts and for good reason. It’s bloody, controversial and the actors are some of the craziest bastards you’ll come across. We highly recommend that you pay them a visit this fall season because there’s really nothing else like it. Now give me a Hell Yeah!
