Hanna Haunted Acres 2019 Review

Hanna Haunted Acres ( Indianapolis, IN)
“A Decent Into Hell”

Hanna Haunted Hayride is the star of Hanna Haunted Acres. This 15 minute trip through the haunted woods will have you jumping out of your skin. This is a very high tech haunt with many eye catching animatronics. You’ll see a falling sign, trees that break in half, a large demon, the headless horseman and much much more. My favorite special effect of the night is the train. You have to experience it for yourself because it’s intense and the wagon will feel the impact. That’s all I’m going to say. Hanna Haunted Hayride has a variety of characters including vampires, witches, a chainsaw maniac and much more. There’s just about any type of scene you can imagine from a haunted barn to a junkyard.

Hanna Haunted Hayride has one of the most intense vehicle chases of any haunted hayride around. It’s wild and some people on the wagon were screaming in terror as the combine chased us down. You’ll face your fears. The sewer has a killer alligator and you will be attacked by a massive tarantula. The acting is decent and you might even see an actor or two fly. The graveyard isn’t a safe place at night and you’ll soon find out why. This is a high quality haunted hayride and there’s a reason why it’s the most popular attraction at Hanna Haunted Acres. It’s frightful fun for all ages.

Freakshow is an elaborate haunt that strikes at your fear of clowns. You’ll venture into areas such as the carnival, the circus, a freakshow and much more. It’s obvious that a lot of time and effort has been spent into making this a somewhat realistic experience. The circus with large animals and an animated giant was the highlight. The sleeping giant commanded the circus animals to attack. There are twisted carnival games, plenty of 3D style art, animated clowns and a great vortex tunnel. This is a fun attraction. It will take you around 4 minutes to escape.

Descension is a dark underground tunnel where you’ll be lucky to survive. The cave walls have skulls embedded into them. This attraction is like entering the pits of hell where the evil creatures are the least of your worries. The laser swamp was very cool and some of the props were impressive. The 16 foot Scissor Serpent would get anyone’s attention. Don’t get lost in the laser swamp. You’ll be in and out in around 4 minutes or less.

Outbreak is for those who are fans of The Walking Dead and classic zombie movies. There’s been a zombie apocalypse and you are one of the few survivors left. The flesh eaters are out in full force and they have an appetite for brains. You’ll explore a gory hospital, a playroom, a walk through ambulance, an industrial area and much more. The acting could be improved a little since most of it consists of actors grunting and groaning. This is very typical of zombies. Total tour time is around 4 minutes.

Blood Barn is a dark and dusty barn where you’ll be a pig led to slaughter. You’ll come in contact with characters that wear human skin, a butcher and various psychopaths. There are some large props including a massive moose. This is a short haunt lasting around 3 minutes, but it’s fun while it lasts. I’ll never look at a chicken coop the same way.

Pandemic is a haunted corn maze where anything might be hiding. If you enjoy mazes then you will have a great time. We’re notoriously bad at corn mazes and we made it out in 12 minutes. Tour time varies greatly depending on how lost you get. There are some actors here and there, but it’s mostly your usual corn maze.

General admission on Sunday through Thursday is $23.95, Friday $27.95 and Saturday $31.95. Fast passes are $35.95 Thursday & Sunday, $40.95 Friday and 46.95 on Saturday. Hayride only admission is $17.95 Thursday & Sunday, $18.95 Friday and $19.95 on Saturday. There are plenty of tasty treats and refreshments available. There’s even a palm reader that will tell your future. You can take a seat on one of their picnic benches or get warm and toasty at their bonfire. The attractions are very easy to locate because they will either have a facade or a well lit banner.

Hanna Haunted Acres has made some changes this season as far as set design and we enjoyed many of the new scenes. Our biggest gripe is the tour time of each haunt. The hayride is 15 minutes while the rest of the attractions we rounded up to 4 minutes each. Pandemic’s tour time varies because it’s a corn maze. We had an enjoyable time and we think you will too.
