The Dent Schoolhouse (Cincinnati, OH)

“You’ll Believe In Ghosts Once Again”
By Noah Wullkotte: Jollypumpkin@aol.com

Do you believe in ghosts? You soon will at The Dent Schoolhouse. There’s a reason why this old dilapidated building has been boarded up and condemned for all eternity. The spirits of innocent school children who lost their lives at the hands of Charlie the Janitor cry out. They want you to hear their story and relive the pain they suffered through.

The old schoolhouse glows red and wants you to enter. There’s something mysterious about this place. There’s something quite haunting about The Dent Schoolhouse. The sights and sounds you’re about to witness will change you forever and you’ll believe in ghosts once again.

The entire haunt is themed after an old schoolhouse. You’re not going to see one single horror movie character. The Dent Schoolhouse is decorated from head to toe with old antiques, incredible animatronics and tons and tons of detail. It’s like stepping foot into a classic horror movie from the 1940’s. There’s suspense, mystery and pure terror.

There’s a prom taking place at The Dent Schoolhouse. A frightening ghost floats in the air as decaying couples dance the night away. Don’t say a word as you enter the library or the librarian will rip your vocal cords out. Spirits hide in the library and are stuck in limbo. The Dent Schoolhouse is inhabited by violent spirits and monsters that live in your worst nightmares. The basement is home to a massive beast who bursts through the wall as a pipe busts and fills the area with water.

Dead children hang from hooks. Is Charlie responsible for this or is something else? Charlie is evil personified and is vicious in his attacks. Cover your eyes as he rips out the intestines of an innocent girl. The dead are angry at The Dent Schoolhouse and you’re imagination will run wild. Yes, that life size doll moved by itself and you were just attacked by a mutant rat. Don’t mind those corpses in those open coffins. They won’t bite much.

You’re not safe and some of the characters you’ll see are downright disgusting. A man is covered with boils and you can pop one if you you’d like. It’s going to get messy as pus sprays all over your clothing. You’ll feel like your back in school as you walk into the cafeteria, shop class, the gym locker room and everything you would expect in a haunted school. School was never so scary until The Dent Schoolhouse came along.

Your trip through the haunted halls of The Dent Schoolhouse lasts 16 minutes which is slightly down from last year. But like I’ve said before, it depends on how fast a person walks through the haunt. Tickets are $20, but this also includes admission to Queen City Slaughter Yard. Fast Pass Admission is $30 or you can skip straight to the front for $40. Ghost Tours take place on Wednesday and tickets are $25 a piece. Lights on Tours for children are $5 and for adults it’s $10 a ticket. Click here for a big savings coupon. Don’t forget to check out the different concessions Dent has to offer such as t-shirts, glow items, food, refreshments and more.

After you exit The Dent Schoolhouse, you’ll get in line for The Queen City Slaughter Yard. It’s a gritty, gory and downright brutal haunt where chainsaw freaks would love to slice you open and there are some psychos waiting for you around the corner. Body parts hang from the ceiling and prisoners are locked up. This is an intense haunt where you’re on the menu and you might soon become ground beef. The entire experience is close to 6 minutes long. It pales in comparison to The Dent Schoolhouse, but it’s meant to be an added bonus and something different to do after you survived the main haunt.

This Halloween Season, dare to be scared at The Dent Schoolhouse where evil is real and you’ll believe in ghosts once again.
